Amish Fitness Club

I found this photo with the caption "Amish Fitness Club" under it. How true!!! The amish stay fit with eating all that high carb food by working and keeping busy with household chores.

Here is an interesting recipe that I found in one of my Amish cookbooks. It's called Jogging - In- A - Jug. I am not sure if it helps you shed pounds but it sounds refreshing! Mix 5 cups apple juice, 2 cups grape juice, 1 cup vinegar. Shake and drink 2 ounces 2 times a day. The recipe says it's good for arthritis and loosing excess pounds. Hmmm?

  1. I have seen this recipe in my cookbooks often but never bothered to read it. I think I'll have to give it a try now. Anything that helps me loose weight without having to go jogging sounds good to me.☺

    Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hello - I found you through A Joyful Chaos and I have to agree with her...if I can shed a few pounds and NOT jog, I'm all for it! Cute blog ~ I'd invite you over to mine but it's having issues at the moment and the girl that did the layout for me is out of town. Boo hoo. Oh well, no biggie. Have a good weekend ~

  3. Thanks for the kind words. I am going to make a small batch for myself. I think to start out I will mix 2 cups apple juice, 3/4 or 1 cup grape juice and about 1/4 to 1/2 c vinegar. That way if it's aweful tasting, I won't be wasting too much. The key of course with any fitness program is to move or burn more calories than you take in. Ha! This is why you don't see Amish people jogging or at the gym! Unlike us who have to plan extra time and effort to exercise. To the Amish, the exercise comes naturally through doing good, old fashioned chores. So let's all try this and compare notes! :) I am sure like a fine wine.... it's an acquired taste!
